The U.S. company Pepsi has launched a new campaign to prevent you from damaging your fingernails when you need to open an ice-cold can of Pepsi.
This innovative initiative, launched on November 27, 2024, takes the form of the “Pepsi Ring,” a limited edition ring designed to solve the problem of opening soda cans without damaging long fingernails or manicures.
What is it made of?
The Pepsi Ring is a functional piece of jewelry handcrafted in 925 silver and adorned with white zirconia stones. This accessory combines the craftsmanship of fine jewelry with the innovation of industrial design, fusing style and practicality. The ring's most prominent feature is the discreet opener located on its underside, designed specifically to work with Pepsi cans.
Where did this idea come from?
The idea for the Pepsi Ring came in response to a social media complaint from Bad Gyal, a popular Spanish singer, who expressed her frustration at having broken a fingernail while trying to open a can. Pepsi not only created the ring as a general solution, but also designed a customized version for Bad Gyal in yellow gold with diamonds.
How can you participate?
To obtain a Pepsi Ring, interested parties must participate in an exclusive contest in Spain. Requirements include being 18 years of age or older and answering the question: “What manicure design would you be willing to wear to get your Pepsi® Ring? The promotion is valid from November 19 to December 5, 2024, with only 10 units available in various sizes for men and women.
Compliments and criticisms.
The launch of the Pepsi Ring has generated mixed reactions. Some consider it an entertaining and functional accessory, while others criticize it as ridiculous or question the relevance of a campaign with so few units available.
This innovative product reinforces Pepsi's strategy of connecting emotionally with its audience through campaigns that blend fashion, functionality and authenticity. Nuria Bombardó, PepsiCo's beverage marketing manager for Southwest Europe, emphasizes that the Pepsi Ring “is not just jewelry, it's an attitude and a statement of individuality and ingenuity.”
